Hello, as a newcomer to total war games, it is hard for me to play more complex armies, because I have no idea what an army composition should look like.
Later game i still keep about 6 to 8 units of skeletons for meat shields, a few GW grave guard to deal with armored infantry (more if i'm facing dwarves), a vargulf or 2 to take on heavy cav, several bats for skimishers/missle cav/artillery, and a terrorgeist for anti-monster. © Valve Corporation.

All rights reserved. some of them are great fighters also.In campaign anything that raise the dead gives me + 1 Vampire for every army apart from Mannfredsright now im irunning 4 dragons, 3 vagheists, 4 varghuls 1 black coach, 2 hex wraiths, 2 cairn wraiths, seems like i am missing a unit..... then depending on whats left i will bring a vamp, and a necro and some times a banshee or wright kinga weaker army i will run some times 1-0 dragons *depending if u can afford upkeep* 3 vargheists, 4 varghuls, 3-4 fell bats, 2-3 hounds, 3 cairn wriath, some other low "tier" things and or heros.i did keep 4 zombies for a long while, they were good at keeping things busy for a while, but then once u get things upgraded, they are just taking up space in the rosterI dunno how relevant it is (since I haven't got this game as of yet.) I usually embed a hero in my armies too, generally a vampire to go with my vampire lord or ghoul king.i am the same as you, but i cant stand bats and use vargheists exclusively after turn 15ishoften times though i tend to just build 20 stacks in one turn from battle-sites and whatever i get is my army composition.

All falls before the will of the Emperor with this build.It depends, however I try to build armies where I can setup overlapping zones of fire from between melee blocks, i.e. Zombies are only good early game. Otherwise you will not be happy while playing them.
What does a good army comp look like? Vampires have the best income buildings in the game other that Dwarfs and Dark Elves but it takes awhile to get- just Drakenhof by itself is enough to support 2-3 armies though and early on there is nothing wrong with sacking your neighbors, reducing their buildings so you fight large armies of low tier units which makes for big burail mounds to raise dead from. Your starting infantry (zombies and skeletons) are fairly awful and you will need to heavily rely on your starting unique units to win battles for you - which exact units you get will vary but generally you bog your opponent down with your hordes while your knights/vargheists/whatever tears apart their backline and then attacks their frontline from behind.Arguably my most favorite army. Sort of like how the TT force plays. Thanks! If you're worried about being attacked, or playing on one of the harder difficulties, get a second army with only cheap Raise Dead units. They are one of the best mid tier front liners in game, and they give you enough time to flank with cavalry and cause mayhem with your monsters, this is where the main power of the vamps is.My front line generally is the lord, a hero, 6 grave guard, and 2 grave guard with 2 handed.
